Humanoids
Dependent on machines in order to sustain them in open space, all kinds and classes of humanoids have managed to maintain their scandalous ways of life across the many sectors of the universe. Whether it is the lure of easy money or agendas known only to themselves, humanoids influence the cosmos more than any other classification of life.
All too often found stealing, deceiving and even murdering, the most threatening assets that all humanoids share is their intelligence and cunning as they struggle to carve their mark upon the universe. Underestimating this factor is likely to lead to an untimely termination from the universe.

The Lucidi Strain
The First Great War was aptly named so, for never before had even the violence torn races of the Human, Ska'ari, Rashkir, and Keldon experienced such a tragic massacre of mortal life as they had at the war's end, located in the heart of the Pardus Sector. The genetically engineered Keldonian virus, the Lucisti Virus, had been desperately retrofitted onto the Empire's main flagship, loosed into the Federation's ranks when the tides of the battle turned grave. Though developed to strike the unique cellular makeup of the Rashkiri, it would not be long before each and every soldier became aware of its effects.
Little of what happened next is known, save for that the deaths meant for the Rashkiri sought each and every man and woman enlisted to battle within the Pardus Sector. Realizing that the virus was a threat to all who drew breath, the entire Pardus Cluster quickly became an area of quarantine for hundreds of years, the luminous green gas clouds a toxic mass meant for no living being. Travel was forbidden and wormholes were sealed, and to the new generations to come the Great War and the Pardus Cluster were all but tales passed down from their elders.
Then came the day that would define an entire generation. For six whole seconds was not a single breath drawn in the whole of the galaxy as the GNN released its breaking report...
"Access to the Pardus Cluster is once again possible."
Project PEAC (Pardus Exploration and Colonization) immediately dispatched teams through the newly reopened wormholes to reclaim the nutrient rich sectors of the Pardus Cluster, only to be met by a vicious resistance none could have expected, and not even the most well equipped Empire, Federation, or Union armada could have broken through.
So long removed from the Empire, the Federation, and the Union as well, this military blockade embraced a technology and a new form of weaponry none had ever witnessed before. The first few groups of exploration teams were immediately annihilated, all they were able to return to their headquarters were scattered screams of a luminescent green light woven into the very essence of their enemies' craft.
Though much of what is written about the Lucidi Strain is based more upon speculation than it is on fact, many scientists have argued this new form of existence descended from the forgotten of the First Great War. The luminescent green energy that fuels the Lucidi armada, as well as the very bodies of the Lucidi themselves, has given rise to the name of this new race of humanoids, a hostile nation intent it seems upon returning to their cousins the maliciousness that had prompted both the Empire and Federation to abandon the Lucidi to death so many years ago.
The only proof of such a connection lies in the modified design of the Lucidi vessels, altered versions of craft used and lost during the First Great War. Few adventurers exploring the Pardus Cluster have been able to gaze past the green glow of the Lucidian crafts' visors, and even fewer have survived to tell the tale. Yet those who have speak of faces they might once have recognized; Human faces, Keldonian faces, Rashkirian faces, and Ska'ari faces, each of their eyes imbued with this same luminescent green glow, trademark of this new species.
Just as little is known about the origin of the Lucidi, so too are their intentions and ambitions a mystery to the PEAC.

Lucidi Squad
Though the smallest vessels in the Lucidian fleet, the Lucidi Squad fighters are not to be underestimated. Powered by the luminescent green glow that binds the whole of the Lucidi as one, these single manned spacecraft fly not only with the advanced weaponry of the Lucidian fleet, but with an enhanced speed and maneuverability as well. Also, if the rumors of the Lucidians' descendancy are true, these crafts are piloted by none other than the sons and daughters of the veteran soldiers of the First Great War, often times leaving pilots that happen upon these fighters with the option neither to fight or flee.

Lucidi Warship
Frontrunner of the Lucidian armada, the Lucidi Warships most often strike the first blow in any major battle in the reborn Pardus Cluster. Many stationed permanently at the wormholes leading into the Pardus Sector, these Warships bring with them the very scent of battle. Armed at full capacity with a half dozen Lucidi fighters, and over three dozen gun turrets, from no angle is this space cruiser blind to other approaching vessels, many times blasting opponents from the sky before their enemies even find them within range.

Lucidi Mothership
Flagship of the Lucidian armada, the Lucidi Mothership boasts not only the most advanced weapon systems of any space-going vessel, but is also one of the many carriers of the trademark Lucidi glow, the energy source that fuels these massive space behemoths. Often flanked by a half dozen of its armada's warships, the Lucidi Mothership has the tactical capacity to house over three dozen Lucidi fighters and scouts, a true testament to space warfare each pilot should be wholly wary of.

The Unscrupulous
Ever since the galaxies opened their doors to the mortal races, both the noble and the ignoble have passed through, the selfless and the greedy, the virtuous and the unscrupulous. Just as thieves roamed the marketplaces in ancient times, and as thugs patrolled the dark alleyways, searching for easy prey, when the coin took to space, so too did hundreds of thousands of men and women follow in search of it.
With the trade routes across the galaxies growing ever longer and ever more numerous, piracy has grown all the more frequent, and all the harder to police. The Empire, the Federation, and the Union have all felt the affects of these idealistic deviants, more often than not enlisting the aid of bounty hunters from all reaches of the galaxy to put a stop to their thievery.
Their mark upon the current age is one that cannot go overlooked however, though it can go wholly ignored. Building the very foundation of their own economy, known as the Black Market, the unscrupulous provide goods and services that few industries, whether they know it or not, could have prospered without.
Wholesale goods, found at drastically reduced prices by anonymous sellers, even to this day are the cornerstone of up and coming businesses seeking to make their way in the worlds. Cheap labor, like that found in any major galactic industry, is the most essential fuel for keeping stockpiles high while keeping prices low. High above the planets' atmosphere, CEOs find the distance far too great to see the slave labor that runs the lowest ranks of their own companies, content instead upon pointing fingers at the shady traders and their crooked transactions.
Despite their role in the cosmos, despite the sets of morals they have chosen to either embrace or discard as they patrol the far reaches of the galaxies, these men and women remain the most veritable threat to any space-going explorer. Many of the unscrupulous are content simply with relieving wayfarers of their cargo, while others are known for leaving adventurers with naught but an oxygen tank and a mask. Others still, though stories are rarely passed on about them, steal even the lives of their prey, leaving absolutely no trace of their crimes. It is these men and women who are to be approached with extreme caution... if one is so fortunate enough as to even see them coming.

Inexperienced Pirate
New to the shady arts, these men and women have nonetheless chosen their path in life. Scraping together what they could manage of a ship and a decent set of weaponry they scour the reaches of both the neutral zones as well as the sectors occupied by the Empire, Federation and Union. Most often the danger they pose to space-travelers is reflected in the dilapidated hulls of the near obsolete vessels they have managed to procure, but they loom a constant threat over pilots all the same, if only in the sheer numbers in which they exist.

Experienced Pirate
Like the thousands of larvae laid in the nests of Space Worms and Maggots to ensure the continued survival of their species, a great number of the inexperienced pirates that roam the galaxies will eventually mature into an even greater threat. Using their newly found wealth to upgrade their dilapidated crafts into the far more intimidating and better equipped vessels, these hardened veterans continue patrolling the far reaches of space for any and all unwitting prey.
